A valve is a mechanical device that controls the flow, flow direction, pressure and temperature of the flowing fluid medium. It is the basic component of the pipeline system. Then, let's learn about the ball valve as well as its advantages and disadvantages.
A ball valve is evolved from a plug valve. Its opening and closing parts are like a ball. The ball is rotated by 90 degrees around the axis of valve stems to achieve the purpose of opening and closing. A ball valve is mainly used to cut off, distribute and change the direction of medium flows on the pipeline. The ball valve with V-shaped opening also has good flow regulation functions.

Advantages of ball valves
1. The thrust bearing reduces the friction torque of the valve stem, which can make the long-term operation of the valve stem stable and flexible.
2. Anti-static function: a spring is set among the ball, valve stem and valve body, which can cause the static electricity generated in the process of switching.
3. Small hydraulic resistance: The pneumatic ball valve is one of the valves whose fluid resistance is the smallest. Even for pneumatic ball valves with the reduced diameter, the fluid resistance is quite small.
4. The valve stem sealing perfomance is good and reliable, because the valve stem only rotates without lifting. The packing seal of the valve stem is not easy to be destroyed, and the sealing capacity increases with the increase of medium pressure.
5. Because the most important sealing ring material of the valve seat is PTEF, it is inert to almost all chemical substances. It has the comprehensive characteristics of small friction coefficient, stable performance, not being easy to aging, wide ranges of temperature applications and excellent sealing performance.

Disadvantages of ball valves
Teflon has a low temperature resistance grade, which can only be used under the condition of less than 180 ℃. If it exceeds this temperature, the sealing material will be aged. In consideration of long-term use, it is generally only used under 120 ℃.
