The free floating ball drain valve uses the buoyancy principle to make the floating ball rise and fall with the rise and fall of condensate water level in the body cavity, so as to open and close the drain hole on the valve seat and play the role of steam blocking and drainage.
The only action part of the free floating ball trap is the floating ball. When the condensate enters the valve body and the liquid level rises to a certain height, the buoyancy makes the floating ball open the water outlet of the valve for drainage. In the process of drainage, as the distribution of liquid pressure in the body cavity is uneven, and the pressure at the valve seat hole is the lowest. Then, the floating ball floating on the liquid surface is subjected to unbalanced force, which pushes the floating ball to float towards the valve seat until the floating ball completely closes the drainage hole of the valve seat. The convex platform at the bottom of the body cavity also supports the floating ball, and the floating ball can not continue to drop. At this time, the drain valve is closed to stop discharging condensate and prevent the steam from escaping. When the steam trap is closed, the steam pressure acts on the floating ball to make the floating ball stick tightly on the valve seat and seal it. Since the valve seat outlet is below the liquid level, the principle of water seal can be used to achieve the purpose of no or less steam leakage. When the valve is just started, the cold air entering the valve body can only be discharged by opening the vent valve, so that the floating ball can enter the working state.
