An Introduce to a Y-strainer

A Y-strainer is an indispensable filter device in the pipeline system for conveying the medium. A Y-strainer is usually installed at the inlet of a pressure reducing valve, a pressure relief valve, a level control valve, or other equipment to remove impurities in the medium, thus making valves and equipment used normally. A Y-strainer has the characteristics of advanced structure, small resistance, and convenient sewage discharge. The applicable media of a Y-strainer can be water, oil, and gas. Generally, the filter is of 18 to 30 meshes for water, 10 to 100 meshes for gas, and 100 to 480 meshes for oil. The basket filter is mainly composed of connecting pipes, main pipes, filters, flanges, flange covers, and fasteners. When the liquid enters the filter through the main pipe, the solid impurity particles are blocked in the filter basket; the pure fluid passes through the filter and is discharged from the outlet of the filter.
 
A Y strainer
The Y-strainer is a small device that removes a few solid particles in the liquid, which can protect the normal operation of the equipment. When the fluid enters the filter cartridge with a filter screen certain specification, its impurities are blocked, and the pure liquid is discharged from the outlet of the filter. When we need to clean the Y-strainer, we just need to take out the detachable filter cartridge and reinstall it after cleaning. Therefore, it is extremely convenient to use and maintain the Y-strainer. A Y-strainer is an indispensable device in the pipeline system of conveying medium. Its function is to filter the mechanical impurities in the medium. It can filter the rust, sand, and a few solid particles in the media to protect the component on the equipment pipeline from wear and blockages, which can protect the normal operation of the equipment.
 
The Y-strainer has a Y shape. One end of the Y-strainer is for water and other liquids to pass through, and the other end is for subsiding waste and impurities. Usually, it is installed at the inlet of a pressure reducing valve, a pressure relief valve, level control valve, or other equipment to remove impurities in the water and protect valves and equipment. The water to be treated by the filter enters the body through the water inlet, and the impurities in the water are deposited on the stainless steel filter screen, resulting in a pressure difference. The pressure difference between the inlet and outlet is monitored by the pressure difference switch. When the pressure difference reaches the set value, the electronic controller sends the hydraulic control valve and drive motor a signal to trigger the following actions: the motor drives the brush to rotate to clean the filter element. Meanwhile, the control valve is opened to discharge the sewage. The entire cleaning process only lasts for tens of seconds. When the cleaning is done, the control valve is closed, and the motor stops rotating. The system returns to its initial state and starts the next filtration process. After the equipment is installed, the technicians will test and set the filtering time and cleaning conversion time. The water to be treated enters the body through the water inlet, and the filter starts to work normally.
