A valve is one of the important pressure piping components in petrochemical plant, among which process valves are used in a relatively large amount. They are mainly used for opening, closing, and throttling. A process valve is a relatively complex and high-tech mechanical product assembled from multiple parts in pipeline components.
The particularity of the petrochemical industry determines that its special requirements for valves will continue to increase, and at the same time, the requirements for quality will continue to increase. Demands for a more beautiful environment, more user-friendly operation, lower operating costs, and digital and intelligent factories are also put forward for the petrochemical industry. With the increasing emphasis and requirements on health, safety, and the environment, relevant standards have put forward higher requirements for the leakage of toxic, flammable, and volatile organic media of pipelines and valves. For example, the standard GB/T 20801.3-2020 Specification of Pressure Piping stipulates that the valves used for GC1 (toxicity, flammability) and volatile organic compounds (VOC) should adopt a low-emission structure to control leakage at the stem packing and comply with ISO 15848-1 and the corresponding requirements of GB/T 26481 (inspection of valves). This is the first time that the national standard for industrial pipelines in China has proposed low leakage requirements for valve stem packing. The petrochemical system equipment will propose corresponding low leakage requirements for valves in accordance with the standards.
At present, the new petrochemical equipment is developing towards large scale, and the operation and maintenance of the equipment are more scientific and reasonable. Therefore, for the valve's structure design and operating mechanism selection, in addition to ensuring the quality of use, the needs of humanized operation should also be considered and provide a valve that is easy to operate and fast.
In recent years, the petrochemical industry has proposed the goal of building digital projects and smart factories, and most new projects require digital delivery. Valves, as the largest number of pressure-bearing equipment, are an important part of the digital delivery of petrochemical projects, and they need to undertake corresponding product digital delivery services and information.
Because of the advantages of factory prefabrication and modular construction of pipelines, such as saving materials, improving efficiency, shortening construction period, good construction environment, and superior construction quality, they have become the development direction of pipeline construction in petrochemical projects in recent years. Valve companies can combine their product characteristics, extend the industrial chain, and provide unique modular skid-mounted integrated products and services. For example, some trap manufacturers have developed from providing single traps to integrated steam tracing stations. Integration and service of these products meet the requirements for petrochemical plants and increase the added value of products.
