Trunnion Mounted Ball Valve
The trunnion mounted ball valve is a type of valve that controls flow with a fixed ball that rotates to open or close the flow path. In this design, the ball is supported by bearings, which help bear the pressure and prevent wear and tear on the valve's components. The valve’s upstream seat presses against the stationary ball to create a tight seal, thanks to the pressure in the pipeline. This setup makes the valve easy to operate and reduces the size and cost of the actuator needed. Trunnion mounted ball valves are known for their low operating torque, minimal seat wear, and strong sealing at different pressures. However, they are not ideal for adjusting flow levels.
